For this debute of my blogging career I find it fitting to start in the beginning. We all have a beginning, and unfortunately for some, we all have an ending. The reason I say unfortunately for some is because some do not know the exceeding and abundant joy of being in Christ. John 1:1-3 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend [overcome] it.” Jesus has been, is, and will be the light that shines on mankind. I know I have had my moments of struggling in the dark wondering when I would find the door back to the light; that was before I realized I could flood the room with light if I would just trust enough to reach upward (reading my Bible and praying) and flick the light switch (Jesus). It takes swallowing your pride at times to reach out to God, because who wants to admit they need to be saved, unless of course they have reached rock bottom already. It takes courage to admit when you have really messed up your life trying to do it all on your own. The good news for me and all the other people in the world who have felt depressed and discouraged by how difficult life can be at times, is Jesus can turn it all around. What we thought was a hopeless situation can become redeemed under His loving hand. Jesus takes us up in His lap when we are scared or hurt and listens to us when we talk. How many of us have felt unheard and even ignored at times by the world? How many of us have given our heart and soul to be and do what the world wants us to be and do? Then we feel so ashamed when we can’t do it all perfectly, like we have let the world down, or at least our little corner of the world comprised of co-workers, friends, and family. For all you who know what I am talking about, feel free to leave me a comment. We all need someone to walk beside us, someone who can encourage us along our path in Christ. I look forward to facilitating that as a part of this new blog community!
